Our Mission Statement

We are a group of folks devoted to celebrating and empowering LGBTQ Vietnamese folks in the Pacific Northwest. We do this by raising visibility via awareness campaigns, events, and mentorship.

The collective then hosted an intergenerational panel in 2017. In the summer of 2019, with the desire for more queer Vietnamese organizing and space, old and new members of ViệtQ reconnected. ViệtQ then began meeting bi-monthly to plan for the first-ever LGBTQ Vietnamese conference: Bạn Means More Than Friends which was hosted in February 2020. Since then, we have hosted workshops, cultural celebrations, community pop-up markets, fan dance classes, and social events.

ViệtQ was formed in 2016 when a group of Vietnamese LGBTQ youth gathered to translate the Q Card, a health resource for LGBTQ Vietnamese people.
